The Spirit Sets Free reflects on the Spirit setting free from within as a basis for the spontaneous enthusiasm of hope and joy, expressed in general liveliness, music and dance. This poses the challenge of laying the foundation of moral integrity as the second stage of African renaissance. The commitment to this challenge of moral integrity makes African spirituality a prophetic spirituality in the service of universal hope and joy. These cultural and spiritual missions involve both opportunity and responsibility with wide-ranging implications for individuals and groups of peoples of African heritage. The reflections suggest how individuals or peoples of African heritage could convert this challenge of moral rebirth into the opportunity for true freedom from within, as basis of hope and joy.

First published in in 1976, Hermann Levin Goldschmidt's Contradiction Set Free, (Freiheit für den Widerspruch), reflects the push to explore new forms of critical thinking that gained momentum in the decade between Theodor Adorno's Negative Dialectics of 1966 and Paul Feyerabend's Against Method in 1975. The book articulates Goldschmidt's reclamation of an epistemologically critical position that acknowledges the deep underlying link between the modes of production of knowledge and the social and political life they produce. In signalling a breakout from the academic rut and its repressive hold, Goldschmidt pointed beyond the ossified methods of a philosophical discourse whose oppressive consequences could no longer be ignored.Contradiction Set Free makes available for the first time in English a pivotal work by one of the great critical thinkers of the 20th century.

This wide-ranging and inspiring volume of essays explores Nietzsche's philosophy of the free spirit. Nietzsche begins to articulate his philosophy of the free spirit in 1878 and it results in his most congenial books, including Human, all too Human, Dawn (or Daybreak), and The Gay Science. It is one of the most neglected aspects of Nietzsche's corpus, yet crucially important to an understanding of his work. Written by leading Nietzsche scholars from Europe and North America, the essays in this book explore topics such as: the kind of freedom practiced by the free spirit; the free spirit's relation to truth; the play between laughter and seriousness in the free spirit period texts; integrity and the free spirit; health and the free spirit; the free spirit and cosmopolitanism; and the figure of the free spirit in Nietzsche's later writings. This book fills a significant gap in the available literature and will set the agenda for future research in Nietzsche Studies.

You are spirit and energy. Regardless of if you're poor, middle class, wealthy, Jew or Christian, you wake up everyday a free spirit with unused natural energy inside of you. The few really wise people in life know this and set on a course to release that natural energy as they live. This keeps you in harmony with who your Creator-God made you to be. Anything else is self-betrayal. You are simply energy and spirit to be used to have fun, live a rich life and do whatever you feel is right, just and useful to help your fellow man, the animals and the planet. You are your memories and experiences. They make up your cloud of consciousness. Go through life trying to make that cloud of consciousness feel good through what you do and think. People with lots of money and status try to come off like they got something special. They got the same cloud of consciousness that is life as you do.

This book is for anyone looking for enlightenment which is simple once you know what it is. It’s to see yourself as the pure being you are away from everything you’ve ever been brainwashed by. Sounds simple but many people live an entire lifetime and not realize they are pure beings with their own true natures who do not owe anything to the people or the society around them except to pay bills and follow the laws. Most misery comes from not being who you are in your natural state. Watch any animal. Cage him up, he gets depressed and angry. Let him be free and he’s happy. Most of us grow up to be slaves to some artificial value then wonder why we’re not happy. The first slavery is to your family. Your father has expectations for you. He wants what is good for you but if he was a truly enlightened father, he would let you live your own life and not push you into the path he wants for you. My second slavery was to my Catholic religion which was not all that bad. It gave me a sense of community and morals but at sixteen, I went to confession then realized that was kind of silly, me a grown man, confessing my sins to another grown man. I still believe in the community the church offers but my relationship to God is direct. No middle man intervenes. I was brought up in a capitalist-pop culture neighborhood in Halifax, Canada. We were into the Beatles and pinball. Everything was about working, business, making money, buying stuff, getting ahead in the capitalist sense. There is more to life than money. There should come a point when you ask yourself what can I do to make me happy beyond these material things I’m surrounded by. I went to a Catholic elementary school where we pledged allegiance to the Queen and listened to the national anthem Oh Canada every day. Presentation True freedom is inner freedom. Freedom is the privilege of the spirit: when it rules in us then we can claim to be free. For this we must learn to reestablish the true hierarchy within us and become king of ourselves. It is through the light of our mind that our feelings, thoughts, instincts and desires are then obeyed. ‘No creature can exist without a number of material elements which it receives from the outside world. Only the Creator escapes this law, He does not need anything external to Him, and it is in this sense that it can be said that only the Creator is free. But as He has left a spark in all human creatures, a spirit that is of the same essence as Him, each can free herself from the limitations of the outside world and, through the spirit, create what she needs ... L 'The teaching that I bring to you is that of the spirit, of the Creator, and not that of matter, of creation. This is why I am telling you: enter the realm of the mind that creates, that models, that shapes, and you will escape more and more from the grip of the outside world, you will be free.’ Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov Table of contents 1 - Man's Psychic Structure 2 - Mind over Matter 3 - Fate and Freedom 4 - Freedom through Death 5 - Sharing in the Freedom of God 6 - True Freedom: a Consecration of Self 7 - Freedom through Self-Limitation 8 - Anarchy and Freedom 9 - The Notion of Hierarchy 10 - The Synarchy Within

Focussing on three first- and early-second-century documents (the Shepherd of Hermas, 1 Clement and the Ignatian epistles), this work contributes to a growing body of literature concerned with the social setting of early Christianity. Maier argues that the development of structures of leadership in the early Christian church is best accounted for by reference to the hospitality, patronage, and leadership of wealthy hosts who invited local Christian groups to meet in their homes. Sociological models and types are employed to analyze the tensions that arose from excesses of patronage and leadership by the well-to-do. Recognizing the socio-economic setting of these conflicts corrects the interpretation of early Christian conflicts over the ministry as purely theological and doctrinali.
